I Noticed Something Different When He Came Home

My man has his little “out with the boys” routine.
Usually, that means cigars... and that smell follows him straight through the front door.
The jacket smell.The car smell.The “please don’t sit on the couch yet” smell.
So when he came home one night and didn’t smell like he usually does?
Yeah... my mind went somewhere.
No heavy smoke. No stale jacket. No “the whole night came home with you” cloud.
Just... fresh.
Suspiciously fresh.
So of course I’m thinking:
“Wait.”
“You said you were with the boys.”
“So why don’t you smell like smoke?”
“Who had you smelling this fresh?”
No proof. No facts. Just vibes.
Then he got bold and tried to hug me.
That made it worse.
Because usually the hug tells the whole story.
But this time? Nothing heavy.
So I finally asked, “Why don’t you smell like smoke?”
He laughed and said,
“Because I used that little thing you got me.”
That’s when it hit me.
